So at school they have Germ-X dispensers all over the school and they are always pushing us to use all of them. And don’t take me the wrong way, I am a very hygienic person. I wash my hand before and after cooking, and using the bathroom, after playing with animals, etc. but I don’t find using Germ-X necessary. Heck, half the time I don’t even wash my hands before dinner as long as I wasn’t using something I know is dirty. It just isn’t necessary.
I’ve actually been thinking about this a lot lately. Our teachers want us to be practically always applying Germ-X, but by always using it we are even more prone to get sick. Yes, Germ-X does kills the germs, but just because the germs are on you doesn’t mean you will automatically get sick. In fact having the germs on you and being exposed to them will actually make you less likely to get sick. This is because you are more likely to become immune to the germ if exposed to it.
This doesn’t mean that I think we should take all Germ-X stations out of the school, I just think we don’t need so many and teachers should stop pushing the students to use them so much.
This also isn’t just an issue at school, its really an issue everywhere. When you go out to the mall or to the movies, what do you see everywhere? Germ-X dispensers.
Not even just in public is it an issue, at many of my friends’ houses the parents have Germ-X bottles out on half the surfaces of the house. And they are constantly nagging at their children to “Go wash your hands!” or “Use some Germ-X after you finish that!”. People need to realize that the more often you apply, the more chances you have of getting sick if you do come across a germ in your cleanliness bubble. Germ-X and hand sanitizers are like makeup, a little goes a long way.
