woman in airport (400x400)As spring break quickly approaches, there are several things you need to remember, for starters don’t talk to strangers. You may think I’m joking, but I am not. In modern times there are so many ways for people to find out information about you, all they need is your name. At airports always remember to keep an eye on your stuff and to never leave your boarding pass alone. Also, don’t post to social media that you are going away on vacation, but if you do, be sure not to say that everyone in your family is going because people then know that your house will be empty.

If you have ever traveled alone, specifically with flying, you should know by now that it can be a bit scary at times. Usually when you’re at the airport you have someone with you who will watch guard over your luggage for you in case you need to use the restroom or get food, but when you’re alone you obviously don’t have anyone there to do that for you. Not talking to strangers comes in a lot when traveling alone. It is usually pretty easy to tell if someone is traveling alone and you can become an easy target, especially as a young female traveling alone. You don’t have to become a paranoid mess, but be sure to always have your eyes peeled. Don’t ever leave something you’re eating or drinking alone, and don’t leave luggage or your boarding pass alone. In fact, try not to even leave your boarding pass face up. Just by finding out your name and where you are traveling, someone can easily find out almost everything about you. They can find your Facebook account and find where you live, and if they’re really good with computers can easily hack into your accounts.

Most certainly don’t post to social media exactly where you are going or that everyone you live with is going. This makes it incredibly easy for people to figure out, to some degree, how long you will be gone and if your house will be left alone and unprotected. As I am sure you have figured out by now, this means people can easily break into your house and steal things.

I’m not saying these things to try to make you a paranoid mess, but you must be careful when traveling, especially alone. With how advanced technology has become nowadays it is so easy for people to find out everything about you with one simple Google search.
